We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in managing the club’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a historic institution while enjoying a picturesque waterfront workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  2. Process membership fees for different tiers of memberships.
  3. Respond to member account enquiries.
  4. Support receptionist in responding to over-the-counter enquiries, answering telephone calls, process payments for sale of club merchandise.
  5. Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  6. Ensure compliance with tax obligations (BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT) and audit requirements.
  7. Collaborate with department heads to monitor budgets and financial performance.
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
  9. Assist with grant applications and financial reporting for funding bodies.
  10. Support the annual audit process and maintain robust internal controls.

About You

Qualifications: At least Bachelor of Accountant or above

Experience: 1+ years in accounting, preferably in hospitality, sports clubs, or non-profits.

Skills:

  1. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and Excel.
  2. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  3. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  4. Knowledge of compliance standards and legislative requirements.
  5. High level of relationship management skills.
