General Accounting
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the school’s general ledger, ensuring that all financial transactions, including tuition fees, grants, payroll, and operating expenses, are accurately recorded in compliance with accounting standards.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment to suppliers (e.g. facility vendors, teaching contractors) and accurate invoicing and collection of tuition and other student-related fees.
- Payroll Management: Oversee the school’s payroll process, ensuring teaching and administrative staff are paid accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with ATO requirements including Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.
Education Program Accounting / Project Support
- Budget Allocation & Cost Tracking: Monitor and track budgets for educational programs, extracurricular activities, school events, or capital improvement projects.
- Grant and Funding Oversight: Assist in managing government or private grants, tracking fund utilisation and preparing reports for compliance and transparency.
- Invoicing & Fee Statements: Prepare and issue fee statements for student tuition, enrolment deposits, and activity fees; handle adjustments and reconciliations as needed.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Budget vs Actual Analysis: Perform monthly variance analysis between actual expenditures and approved school budgets; report discrepancies and suggest cost control measures.
- School Profitability and Cost Centre Analysis: Analyse performance of different school departments or cost centres (e.g. Higher education sector and Vocational sector).
- Management Reporting: Provide financial insights and recommendations to school management to support operational and strategic planning.
Compliance and Statutory Reporting
- Drafting Reports: Assist in the preparation of draft Business Activity Statements (BAS), Single Touch Payroll (STP) summaries, end-of-year Financial Reports and internal audit reports.
- External Accountant Liaison: Communicate with external tax accountants or auditors by providing required documents and clarification to support statutory lodgements and annual audits.
Communication and Collaboration
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present financial summaries to school executives, the principal, board members, and department heads as needed.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with academic and administrative departments to ensure financial accuracy of program budgets, events, and purchases.
Technology and Systems
- Accounting Software: Maintain accurate records in school-specific accounting platforms (e.g. MYOB, Xero, or education-focused systems like Synergetic or TASS).
- Student Management System Integration: Ensure alignment between the accounting system and the student information system (for tuition, fees, and financial aid records).
- Data Integrity: Ensure proper data entry, accuracy, and accessibility of all financial records in compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
·At least bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting or Finance
·Mandarin Speaking preferred
·At least two years’ experience as a company accountant
·Industry experience preferred (Accounting experience in education industry)
