Procurement Manager


THE BOAT WAREHOUSE is a specialist boating, water sports, fishing and marine electronics store with our main retail outlet located in Belrose, NSW. Our customers include recreational boaters, marine industry professionals & fishermen across Australia and beyond. We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team. This role will suit a professional who can take ownership of our procurement processes, manage supplier relationships, and contribute to the overall operational efficiency of the business. Experience in inventory systems, supplier negotiation, and stock forecasting is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and oversee purchasing activities for marine parts, boating accessories, and electronic equipment across in-store and online channels.
  2. Source and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, timely delivery, and quality standards.
  3. Maintain optimal inventory levels and stock forecasting, with a focus on cost-efficiency and reducing stock discrepancies.
  4. Monitor freight logistics and manage incoming and outgoing stock allocations at the distribution centre.
  5. Collaborate with warehouse and showroom teams to ensure accurate stock flow and product availability.
  6. Review market trends and customer feedback to recommend new product lines.
  7. Manage quarterly stocktakes and reconcile inventory variances.
  8. Support accounts team in handling product returns, credits, and supplier invoicing.
  9. Implement and improve procurement systems, workflows, and vendor performance tracking.
  10. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field. A extensive work experience can substitute this requirement
  2. Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles.
  3. Knowledge of marine products is highly preferred.
  4. Understanding of the boating, marine accessories, or retail sector preferred.
  5. Australian experience is mandatory
  6. Strong knowledge of inventory systems.
  7. Familiarity with warehouse management systems and freight coordination.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  3. Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  5. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  6. High-level in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
