The opportunity
Due to the ongoing growth of our business, we now have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Security Technician to join the team.
As a highly motivated professional with solid technical knowledge and experience in the industry, you will work autonomously, leading projects and guiding other technicians with your expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Electronics Trades Workers:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, OR
- AQF Certificate IV, OR
- 3 years of relevant experience; and
- Registration or licensing
- Understanding of Electronic Systems: A strong grasp of how electronic security systems work, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection (alarms), fire alarms, and networking principles. This includes knowledge of various components, their functions, and how they interact.
- Wiring and Cabling: Proficiency in low-voltage wiring techniques, including pulling cables, terminating wires, and connecting devices. Understanding of wire types and their applications is crucial.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve problems within security systems. This involves using testing equipment (multimeters, signal generators, etc.) to identify faults and implement solutions.
- Networking (IP-based Systems): Many modern systems rely on networks. Familiarity with IP addressing, network protocols (TCP/IP), and network troubleshooting is essential for installation and maintenance.
- Software Proficiency: Skills in using software for system configuration, monitoring, and management. This often involves specialised security software provided by manufacturers.
- Knowledge of Security Standards and Regulations: Understanding industry best practices, relevant codes (e.g., building codes related to alarm systems), and security regulations is important for compliance and safety.
- Hardware Knowledge: Familiarity with various security hardware components, such as cameras, sensors, access control readers, control panels, and recorders.
- Experience with different system types: Exposure to various brands, models and types of security systems enhances problem-solving abilities.
PRACTICAL SKILLS:
- Installation Techniques: Ability to mount cameras, install sensors, run cables, and connect all components correctly according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Physical Security Awareness: Understanding the physical security aspects of installations and how they impact the effectiveness of the electronic system.
SOFT SKILLS:
- Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness is vital to ensure proper installation and prevent vulnerabilities.
- Communication: Clear communication with clients, explaining technical concepts in a way they understand.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to complete projects on schedule.
- Customer Service: Providing excellent customer support and building strong client relationships.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing and programming CCTV camera systems, intercom systems, access control systems and security head end systems
- Installing and testing Audio Visual equipment Monitors, TV's and Public Address Systems
- Installing and testing communication racks, data outlets and fibre optic cabling
- Establishing site, ordering cable, organising ladders and equipment
- Roughing in of cables & fitting off devices as per site specifications
- Using software to adjust site plans to suit variations
- Diagnosing and fixing faults on service-based sites using equipment such as software, laptops, applications, technical meters, fluke testers
- Coordination of an on-site team including subcontractors and apprentices.
