About us:

AJ & J is a well-established accounting firm based in Sydney, dedicated to providing high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to individuals and businesses. Due to ongoing business growth, we are looking for an experienced full-time Accountant to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), managing GST and PAYG reporting, and producing financial reports for clients in property development and other industries.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare BAS, including PAYG withholding, PAYG income tax instalments, and GST-related reporting

· Perform account reconciliations, including monthly bank, debtor, and creditor reconciliations

· Maintain general ledger and prepare accurate financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, and Cash Flow)

· Ensure all accounts comply with Australian Accounting Standards and taxation regulations

· Prepare special purpose financial reports for clients (e.g., for liquidation, acquisition, fundraising, or government compliance)

· Manage tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships

· Assist clients with tax issues and provide advice in person or via phone

· Support forecasting and business performance analysis including cash flow, KPI checks, and risk assessments

The Requirements:

· Tertiary Degree in Accounting or related field

· At least 3years of relevant experience (e.g., public practice or commercial accounting)

· Strong knowledge of GST, BAS, and Australian taxation law

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or similar)

· Strong analytical and communication skills

· CPA/CA qualified or working towards certification (preferred but not essential)
