Airline software company based in Sydney, Australia. With aims to become the global leader in assisting airlines to protect their revenue.

The proprietary technology pioneered involves big data and extensive data analytics. We are now looking to fill the newly created role of a Product Owner (New Products). The Product Owner (New Products) will be responsible to own and develop a new product suite.

The ideal candidate will come from an airline/aviation commercial data background and possess a strong passion for innovation, be adept at navigating market research, and have experience working closely with cross-functional teams to bring new products from ideation to launch and beyond.

As the Product Owner for new products, you will play a crucial role in defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring that each product delivers value to customers and drives business success.

Role and Responsibilities

Define Product Vision:

  1. Create and articulate a clear product vision
  2. Ensure the vision reflects market needs, customer pain points, and business objectives, positioning the new product for success in the marketplace.

Market Research and Validation:

  1. Lead market research initiatives to understand customer needs, competitor products, and industry trends.
  2. Engage with potential users through surveys, interviews, and MVPs to validate assumptions and ensure product-market fit.
  3. Analyse data to inform product decisions and prioritise features that address real customer problems.

Product Roadmap Development:

  1. Develop and maintain a product roadmap that outlines key milestones, deliverables, and timelines for new products.
  2. Align the roadmap with strategic business objectives, balancing short-term priorities with long-term vision.
  3. Be adaptable and make necessary adjustments to the roadmap based on market feedback and new insights.

Prioritise Product Backlog:

  1. Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring that backlog items are prioritised based on business value and customer impact.
  2. Work closely with the development team to ensure features are well-defined, actionable, and aligned with user needs.

Lead Product Discovery and MVP Definition:

  1. Lead the product discovery phase to define the most essential features for the product’s MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
  2. Focus on developing a lean, viable product that can be iterated upon based on real customer feedback and market performance.

Stakeholder Management and Communication:

  1. Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., marketing, sales, client service delivery, executives) to gather feedback and ensure alignment on product strategy.
  2. Regularly update stakeholders on product progress, key milestones, and any changes to the roadmap or priorities.
  3. Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure continued support for the product.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  1. Collaborate with all relevant teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
  2. Act as the bridge between technical and business teams to ensure alignment on priorities and product goals.

Post-Launch Monitoring and Iteration:

  1. Lead post-launch efforts to gather customer feedback, monitor product performance, and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Prioritise iterations and enhancements based on real-world usage and feedback to ensure ongoing product success.

Go-to-Market Strategy:

  1. Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop and execute the product's go-to-market strategy.
  2. Ensure that product positioning, messaging, and sales enablement materials are clear and aligned with the target audience.

Track Product Performance:

  1. Define and monitor KPIs to measure the success of the new product, such as user adoption, engagement, and retention.
  2. Use data-driven insights to optimise product features and guide the next phase of development.

Lifecycle Management:

  1. Oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring continuous evolution and improvements after launch.
  2. Address any post-launch challenges, such as bugs or feature adjustments, and ensure a smooth user experience.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role, with a focus on new products within the airlines industry.
  2. Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch.
  3. Demonstrated ability to define product visions, strategies, and roadmaps that align with business goals.
  4. Experience with market research and user validation techniques.
  5. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple product features and iterations in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  7. Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and KPIs to guide decisions and optimise the product.
  8. Strong problem-solving abilities and a user-centered approach to product development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Airline revenue / "commercial operations" experience (Mandatory).
  2. Strong revenue management understanding - how airlines make revenue through seats, inventory, distribution, allocation. (Mandatory)
  3. Background in technology products or SaaS is a plus.
  4. Understanding of Data, Data Insights and how they provide data-driven-decisions for potential customers
  5. Familiarity with design thinking, user-centered design, and product discovery frameworks.
  6. Experience in go-to-market strategy and product launches.
