About the role
We're looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated Business Services Manager, to join our team, based in our modern South Melbourne office. The ideal candidate will have gained skills and experience in administration, financial reporting, operations, project management, staff management and stakeholder engagement.
The Business Services Manager is responsible for the overall administration and operational delivery of services Nationally, in addition to a long-term focus on organisational growth, innovation, and development. Their main areas of focus include the delivery of safe & compliant services, management of staff resourcing, operational processes, general resource/logistical management and financial management/reporting.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Operations & Project Management
- Create and manage business timelines, milestones, and progress reporting.
- Develop documentation including operational procedures and guidelines to assist staff.
- Negotiate, manage and coordinate supplier and contractor resources.
- Represent the organisation at public seminars and events to promote the organisation and future organisational events.
- Lead planning and delivery of transport, equipment & logistics requirements.
- Recruit, train and co-ordinate staff to ensure a smooth delivery of services.
Health, Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure the organisation delivers appropriate WHS and Risk Management systems and processes.
- Prepare, communicate & manage documentation including Risk registers and Emergency Management plans.
Financial Management
- Manage the financial resources in line with established budgets.
- Provide financial reports and future budget forecasts.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Effectively & regularly work with councils, communities and others to ensure on-going support for events.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and community consultation plans.
Leadership & Team
- Lead a team of personnel to ensure smooth delivery of business operations.
- Work closely with all departments to plan services resourcing needs and delegate duties as required.
Skills & Experience Required for the Role:
- Prior large scale Event Organiser/ Business Manager experience (involving large and complex events advantageous).
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the management of large sporting organisations.
- Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in Business, or similar is advantageous (significant event experience will be considered as an alternative).
- Experience managing H&S compliance.
- Financial skills and experience in budget management.
- Community & stakeholder engagement and consultation experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Computer Aided Design/ mapping software experience desirable.
Personal attributes:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to problem solve, multi-task, work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
- Able to work weekends at event time, and to travel within Australia (and sometimes to NZ) to attend events.
Certificates/ licenses:
- Valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
- First Aid certificate.
