The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, professional, punctual, and quality-focused General Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management:
·Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
Financial Reporting:
·Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
·Process supplier invoices, expense claims, and outgoing payments in a timely manner. Generate customer invoices, follow up on outstanding receivables, and reconcile accounts as required.
Bank and Account Reconciliation:
·Perform regular bank reconciliations and reconcile other balance sheet accounts to ensure data integrity and accuracy of records.
Month-End and Year-End Closing Activities:
·Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset register maintenance.
Budgeting and Forecasting Support:
·Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data analysis, variance reporting, and input on financial trends and anomalies.
Compliance and Taxation:
·Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies. Assist in preparing and lodging BAS, GST, PAYG, and other statutory requirements as needed.
Audit Support:
·Prepare audit schedules, provide documentation, and liaise with external auditors during internal or external audits.
Financial Controls:
·Support the implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Payroll Processing:
·Process payroll, superannuation, leave calculations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Financial System Management:
·Use accounting software effectively to maintain records, generate reports, and troubleshoot system-related issues. Identify opportunities for process improvement and system automation.
Stakeholder Communication:
·Collaborate with internal departments to provide financial insights, answer finance-related queries, and support decision-making processes.
Ad Hoc Financial Projects:
·Participate in special projects, cost analysis, financial modelling, and other finance-related tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Master’s Degree in Accounting is highly preferred. Proficiency in MYOB is preferred.
