Darren's Meats Pty Ltd, trading as Marjax Meats in Rothwell Brisbane North, we are well-known and long established butchery business.
With a growing business and increasing demand, we are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial planning and performance of our butchery operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong accounting and financial management skills to support growth, ensure compliance, and drive profitability.
Your Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee budget, financial plans to support the day-to-day operations of the business, including retail, wholesale, and processing functions.
- Lead and control operating costs, including procurement, labour, logistics, and storage, ensuring profitability across all areas of the business.
- Support the Director with business planning by evaluating financial performance and forecasting funding demands. Evaluate financial performance across different product lines and sales channels to guide pricing, promotions, and investment decisions.
- Supervise the development and integration of accounting systems to enhance data accuracy and reporting capabilities.
- Lead the development and maintenance of effective accounting processes and systems.
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts, to provide an accurate view of the organisation’s financial position.
- Assess the cost-effectiveness and financial impact of proposed and active business initiatives.
- Develop strategic advice on funding options, investment planning, and profit allocation.
- Prepare long-term financial projections, budgets, and detailed financial reports to support strategic planning.
- Ensure full compliance with financial reporting obligations, ATO requirements, and industry-specific legislation including food business financial standards.
- Collaborate with Director & manage other related staff to align financial planning with staffing, production scheduling, and seasonal demand.
Required Skills & Experience
- A least 3 years of accounting or relevant experience
- Bachelor or above degree in Finance / Professional Accounting
- Excellent communications, English proficiency a must
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
- Good interpretative skills
- Familiar with XERO accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Needs to prove that you can be trusted to manage in this position
