Salary: $75,000 to 80,000 + Super

United Petroleum Pambula (Pie Face) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy service station and food retail outlet. This role is critical to the delivery of outstanding customer service, staff management, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will have a strong background in retail management, preferably in a convenience or food retail setting, and a qualification in Business Management or a related discipline

About United Petroleum Pambula (Pie Face)

United Petroleum is an independent, Australian-owned petrol and convenience company. Our Pie Face outlet adds a unique bakery and café experience to our Pambula service station. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service, high-quality products, and a safe and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and coordinate daily retail operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance with company standards and relevant regulations.
  2. Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff to ensure high performance and customer satisfaction.
  3. Monitor and drive sales performance, maintain high standards of customer service, and handle customer inquiries and complaints.
  4. Manage stock levels, conduct regular stocktakes, and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of merchandise and food products.
  5. Oversee budgeting, cash handling, banking, and reconciliation activities. Monitor and report on financial performance including sales targets, profit margins, and expenditures.
  6. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, food safety regulations (particularly relating to Pie Face operations), and company policies.
  7. Maintain appealing store layout and visual merchandising in line with brand guidelines.
  8. Implement marketing initiatives, promotional campaigns, and fuel card/gift card programs.
  9. Prepare regular reports on sales, staff performance, stock levels, and operational issues for senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  1. A relevant qualification in business management or a related field (e.g., Diploma level and above)
  2. Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience in a retail supervisory or managerial role
  3. Proven experience in managing teams and retail operations
  4. Experience with POS systems, stock control, and cash handling procedures

Desirable:

  1. Experience in a service station or quick-service restaurant (QSR) environment
  2. Knowledge of food safety and handling standards (e.g., Pie Face bakery and hot food operations)
