Action Metal Recyclers are the largest privately owned scrap metal company in Queensland with 10 facilities located from Townsville, Gladstone and Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Warwick and the Gold Coast. Our main site at Coopers Plains is looking for a Facilities and Safety Manager with background in WPH&S, safety training and auditing to assist in the day-to-day operations of the site. The Facilities Manager will oversee the yard operations of all sites, along with machinery maintenance, operational and environmental management and to ensure that all physical aspects of the yard operate efficiently and safe.
Operations include "hard services" such as Equipment repairs and maintenance related work and "Soft Services" such as Cleaning, Security, Waste Management and Grounds Maintenance, Safety and Training.
Your role will ensure compliance with Action Metal Recyclers policies and procedures including procurement, contractor security, inductions and similar activities that may have an impact on site and personnel, operations, safety and the environment. Maintaining records of essential services and statutory maintenance requirements. Health Safety & Environment (HSE) is highly valued within the company, and you will be responsible for fostering a safe work environment.
The role is one that requires a combination of hands-on leadership and coordination to achieve safe yard facilities operation.

Qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Business Admin or relevant experience
- Fire Warden Training
- Workplace Health and safety certificate
- First aid certificate

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining effective day-to-day relationships with all internal and external clients on-site in respect to the provision of Property Infrastructure services.
- Developing facility operational and maintenance plans and budgets, coordinating the activities, monitoring cash flows and reporting on the site maintenance activities.
- Providing specific technical advice and guidance on facilities and services to internal clients and staff.
- Liaising with Managers with regards to agreements and compliance, policy reviews, contracts and relationship management.
- Undertaking Facilities Condition Audit assessments and annual reviews of site facilities and services and updating the Maintenance Plan data.
- Supervising and administering the daily property services works undertaken by contractors and staff, to ensure compliance with programs and contracts.
- Perform in a supervisor capacity in all facets of the Scrap Metal Recycling team. Carrying out duties in a responsible and competent manner.
- Perform all work functions as directed by the General Manager
- Demonstrate initiative for rotating and flexible rosters, according to the operation export deadlines and business needs.
- Communicate directly with appropriate colleagues, other co-workers, department supervisors, trades level contractors and follow up until action has been taken.
- Respond promptly to all calls for assistance and communicate actions taken.
- Maintain harmonious working relationships with other staff members.
- Keep a clean and safe working environment.
- Comply with all of the operational policies and procedures.
- Gain full knowledge and practice all of the occupational health and safety guidelines (WH&S).
EXPERIENCE:
To be considered for this role it is essential that you have at least 5 years prior experience in a similar role. A formal qualification is not required for this role but the ability to provide a proven track record in Facilities Management/Operations management and Health & Safety training, is required.
