Standalone Payroll Officer
Please note – this is a full-time, on-site role that requiring physical presence in the office five days a week.

We are seeking a Standalone Payroll Officer with a minimum of three years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
In this position, you will oversee and manage payroll operations, ensure compliance with statutory and company obligations, and work closely with various departments to support smooth and effective financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accurate, end-to-end weekly payroll processing for permanent, casual, and contract staff.
- Collect, calculate, and input payroll data.
- Prepare summaries of earnings, tax, deductions, leave, and other non-taxable income.
- Submit payroll tax, PAYG, workers’ compensation, and other required compliance returns.
- Ensure payroll liabilities are correctly determined, and statutory requirements are met.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Generate ad hoc financial and operational reports as required.
- Reconcile payroll-related bank statements with the general ledger.
- Support general finance team functions, including document filing, report generation, and debtor follow-ups.
- Process payments and supplier invoices accurately within designated timeframes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Payroll Services or any other related qualification
- Minimum of three years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing (required), ideally gained within medium to large-sized organisations.
- Experience with Employment Hero, ELMO, or KeyPay payroll software preferred
- Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage full “in-house” payroll and ensure data integrity.
- Excellent organisational skills the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
