About the Role
Due to continuous growth in residential and small-scale commercial developments, the company is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join our team. This role is essential to provide in-house structural design and engineering support for ongoing projects across South Australia. The successful candidate will design and certify structural elements including residential footings, slabs, and steel framing systems in accordance with Australian Standards, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review residential footings, slabs, and steel frames in compliance with AS1170, AS2870, AS3600, and other relevant standards.
- Perform structural modelling, load, and stress analysis to ensure safety and efficiency of structural systems prior to construction.
- Review geotechnical reports to determine appropriate footing design parameters and safe soil bearing capacities in accordance with AS2870.
- Produce structural drawings, calculations, and detailed specifications using AutoCAD, Structural Toolkit, and SLOG.
- Prepare design documentation and reports for council submission and certification.
- Draft and revise architectural and structural drawings, incorporating feedback from engineers and project managers.
- Conduct site inspections to verify structural integrity of footings and steelworks, preparing weekly inspection and progress reports.
- Assess design modifications for structural and cost implications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
- Liaise with builders, architects, surveyors, and local councils to ensure compliance with design and constructability requirements.
- Participate in site meetings and assist in the coordination of design revisions and documentation.
- Respond to comments and technical requirements from councils and independent certifiers.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in structural engineering.
- Comprehensive understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Structural Toolkit, SLOG, and other structural design software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
