Accountant

Lion Rentals Pty Ltd, trading as Lion Car Rental, is a well-established automotive business specialising in vehicle rentals, with a fleet of over 400 vehicles. The company also operates an automotive mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance division, as well as a tyre retail service for the general public.

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our team at 2/85 Hume Hwy, Somerton, VIC 3062. Lion Car Rental is recognised as one of Victoria’s leading vehicle rental businesses and continues to expand its service offerings across the automotive sector.

Role Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the formulation of budgetary and accounting policies, preparing financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors, management, and relevant statutory bodies. The role also includes analysing operating costs, income, and expenditure, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reports with statutory requirements.

Additional responsibilities include liaising with financial institutions and brokers to establish fund management arrangements, assessing cash flow and financial risks relating to capital investment projects. You will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining accounting systems, advising on appropriate computer-based accounting solutions, and ensuring robust internal control systems are in place.

To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to multitask and work effectively within a team environment.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate:

1. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, with a specialisation in Financial Accounting
2. Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, and compliance requirements
3. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience
4. Proven ability to meet strict deadlines
5. Capacity to train and support staff on systems, procedures, and policies
6. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using database-driven accounting software
7. Successful completion of a National Criminal History Check
8. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Benefits

Qualified candidates will receive a competitive remuneration package of AU$85,000 per annum, based on a full-time, permanent position of 38 hours per week.
