Position Overview

The Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the organization. This position involves analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining systems, and supporting management in making informed financial decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

1. Formulate and implement budgetary and accounting policies aligned with organizational goals.
2. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for presentation to board members, management teams, shareholders, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
3. Provide assurance on the accuracy and compliance of financial reports with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Audits, Investigations & Advisory Support

1. Conduct comprehensive financial investigations and prepare detailed reports.
2. Undertake internal and external audits, identifying discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
3. Advise on critical financial matters such as mergers, acquisitions, capital financing, taxation, insolvency, and suspected fraud analysis.
4. Cost & Financial Analysis
5. Examine and analyze operating costs, income streams, and expenditure patterns to support business efficiency.
6. Appraise cash flow, evaluate financial risks, and analyze capital investment projects for feasibility and profitability.

Taxation & Compliance

1. Provide expert financial and taxation advice regarding business structures, planning, and operational improvements.
2. Prepare and file tax returns for individuals and organizations in accordance with regulatory standards.
3. Systems & Operations
4. Liaise with financial institutions, brokers, and fund managers to support financial arrangements and investments.
5. Introduce, implement, and maintain accounting systems, including advising on computer-based accounting solutions.
6. Ensure robust internal control systems are in place to safeguard organizational assets and maintain accuracy across financial processes.

Qualifications & Skills Required

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
2. Professional certification (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
3. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations
4. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
6. Strong communication abilities and attention to detail
7. High level of integrity, ethics, and professional judgment
