As we grow our operations, we are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to design, fabrication, quality control, and project execution.
Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and engineering expertise across fabrication, maintenance and manufacturing projects within the workshop. The role plays an essential part in the design, development and improvement of mechanical components and production processes. Working closely with the workshop and project teams, the Mechanical Engineer will ensure that all engineering work meets quality, safety and performance standards while contributing to efficient project delivery and overall business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications for fabrication projects.
- Oversee manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, assembly and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with workshop teams to plan and schedule fabrication work.
- Perform structural and materials calculations, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and testing of finished products.
- Provide technical support and problem-solving during production and maintenance phases.
- Coordinate with procurement, project management and clients to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain safe work practices and compliance with WHS and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in fabrication, manufacturing or mechanical design — preferably in an engineering workshop or manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and mechanical drawings.
- Strong understanding of materials, welding standards, mechanical tolerances and structural integrity.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and communicate clearly.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and practices.
