To support the firm’s growing client portfolio and ongoing service delivery, ATEK is seeking a skilled and motivated Accountant to join its team on a full-time, ongoing basis. The Accountant is a professional role responsible for delivering accounting, taxation and compliance services to a portfolio of clients. The position supports both internal operations and client-facing engagements by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements, and high-quality professional advice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports, in accordance with Australian accounting standards.
2. Examining clients’ financial records and operating costs to provide accurate financial analysis and reporting.
3. Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial projections to support client advisory and business planning.
4. Ensuring compliance with taxation and statutory obligations, including GST, BAS/IAS lodgements and income tax returns.
5. Maintaining and reviewing general ledger accounts, journals and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records.
6. Providing accounting and taxation advice to clients in relation to financial management, compliance obligations and business performance.
7. Liaising with external auditors, regulators and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as required.
8. Assisting with year-end financial reporting, audit preparation and client reviews.
9. Monitoring and improving accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
10. Supporting senior accountants and managers with client engagements and ad hoc accounting matters.

Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field.
2. At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience
3. Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation legislation.
4. Experience with accounting software.
5. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and client service orientation.
6. Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple client engagements.
