To support the firm’s growing client portfolio and ongoing service delivery, ATEK is seeking a skilled and motivated Accountant to join its team on a full-time, ongoing basis. The Accountant is a professional role responsible for delivering accounting, taxation and compliance services to a portfolio of clients. The position supports both internal operations and client-facing engagements by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements, and high-quality professional advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports, in accordance with Australian accounting standards.
- Examining clients’ financial records and operating costs to provide accurate financial analysis and reporting.
- Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial projections to support client advisory and business planning.
- Ensuring compliance with taxation and statutory obligations, including GST, BAS/IAS lodgements and income tax returns.
- Maintaining and reviewing general ledger accounts, journals and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records.
- Providing accounting and taxation advice to clients in relation to financial management, compliance obligations and business performance.
- Liaising with external auditors, regulators and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as required.
- Assisting with year-end financial reporting, audit preparation and client reviews.
- Monitoring and improving accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Supporting senior accountants and managers with client engagements and ad hoc accounting matters.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation legislation.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and client service orientation.
- Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple client engagements.
