The organisation provides person-centred, evidence-based supports to children and adults, assisting participants and families to achieve improved social, emotional, and functional outcomes. HHBS operates across multiple locations and manages complex funding, compliance, and reporting obligations under the NDIS framework.

Role Purpose

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the organisation’s financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and compliance obligations. The role supports business sustainability, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making in a growing NDIS service environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in developing and reviewing budgeting processes and accounting policies aligned with organisational and regulatory requirements
  2. Prepare financial statements and management reports for directors and senior management
  3. Analyse financial records, conduct reviews, and prepare reports relating to audits, taxation, funding, and financial performance
  4. Monitor operating costs, revenue streams, and expenditure across NDIS programs and service delivery activities
  5. Ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with Australian accounting standards and statutory obligations
  6. Provide accounting and taxation advice on organisational structure, service expansion, and operational planning
  7. Prepare and lodge business tax returns and statutory financial reports
  8. Liaise with banks, financial institutions, and external advisers to manage cash flow and funding arrangements
  9. Implement and maintain accounting systems, including advising on suitable accounting software and financial controls
  10. Maintain internal control systems to support governance, risk management, and financial integrity
  11. Assess cash flow, financial risk, and the financial viability of capital or service-delivery projects

Skills and Experience Required

  1. Relevant qualification in Accounting or Finance
  2. Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience
  3. Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements
  4. Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance
  5. Strong analytical and organisational skills
  6. Experience using computer-based accounting systems
