Westphalia Gourmet Fine Foods is a proudly Western Australian, family-owned business with a long-standing reputation for producing premium European-style smallgoods. With decades of experience, Westphalia is known for its traditional recipes, high-quality ingredients, and meticulous production standards. The company supplies a wide range of gourmet products, including hams, salamis, sausages, smoked meats, bacon, and specialty cooked meats to retail, food service, and hospitality sectors across Australia. Quality, authenticity, and consistency are central to Westphalia’s success and brand integrity.

Currently, Westphalia Gourmet Fine Foods is developing its business and must ensure quality to meet customer needs and comply with standards. Therefore, Westphalia is seeking a Primary Products Quality Assurance Officer to oversee and maintain the quality assurance, including the food safety system (HACCP), and FSSC/ISO 22000 standards. Also, Westphalia will develop digital and automation food safety system. In the near future, the scope of quality assurance will be broadened to include implementing a quality management system (ISO 9001:2015) integrated with the Work Health & Safety (ISO 45001) and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).

This role is critical in ensuring that all products consistently adhere to the regulatory standards, internal business standards or criteria, and customer expectations.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Primary Products Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for achieving customer satisfaction with all Westphalia smallgoods products and ensuring consumer safety by executing the food safety system (HACCP) and quality management system (QMS).

Your role will include:

  1. Ensure all small goods products consistently meet Westphalia’s quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  2. Implement, maintain, and monitor food safety system in accordance with HACCP, FSSC/ISO 22000, FSANZ, and relevant Australian meat-processing regulations.
  3. Perform internal audits and engage in external audits conducted by regulatory authorities and certification organisations, including the coordination of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) closure.
  4. Assist the management in setting up and implementing the digitalisation and automation of the food safety system (HACCP) and quality management system (QMS).
  5. Work closely with production, marketing, procurement, and warehousing teams to ensure that raw materials and finished products meet specifications.
  6. Train and educate staff on quality standards, food safety procedures, and best manufacturing practices.
  7. Prepare regular quality reports for management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

  1. Qualification in Quality Auditing, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Previous experience as a primary products quality assurance officer in a small goods/gourmet factory (Mandatory).
  3. Experience with audits, documentation (SOPs writing, review, and improvement), and quality reporting is highly desirable.
  4. Possess a strong understanding of Australian food regulations, HACCP, and QMS, complemented by the technical expertise to implement these systems through digital software applications.
  5. Ability to work hands-on in a production environment.
  6. Strong attention to detail, system-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production, marketing, and auditor teams.
