Accountant


JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Beverley Crest Hotel Business Trust, a well-established hospitality business. Beverley Crest Hotel is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining sound financial management and operational excellence.

Our client is now seeking a dedicated Accountant to join their team. The role is full-time and ongoing, requiring 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities of our Accountant will include:

  1. Providing essential accountancy services in support of effective financial management of the business.
  2. Delivering specialist accounting skills across the full range of services including statutory accounting, financial management, payments and ledger management oversight, and tax reporting.
  3. Reporting directly to the Director.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  1. Provide timely financial reporting to support informed decision-making by the Director.
  2. Prepare budgets and cashflow forecasts as required.
  3. Conduct variance analysis of budget versus actual performance.
  4. Report on operating costs, income, and expenditure.

Statutory Accounting & Compliance

  1. Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end statutory accounting information.
  2. Ensure accounting processes and systems flow smoothly and compliance obligations are met.
  3. Liaise with external accountants for the preparation of regulatory returns including the monthly Business Activity Statement.
  4. Ensure all accounting ledgers and reconciliations are systematic and auditable.

Team Supervision & Administration

  1. Supervise Accounts Administrators responsible for bookkeeping, invoice processing, payroll and bi-monthly payment runs.
  2. Ensure all creditor payments are made within agreed timeframes.
  3. Maintain the accounting system, advise on operational issues and propose improvements.
  4. Assist in formulating and developing budgetary and accounting policies.
  5. Support internal audits through the preparation of audit papers as required.

Qualifications & Education:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Economics (minimum requirement).
  2. Demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills may be considered.

Experience & Abilities Required:

  1. Minimum of one year in a similar role post-qualification.
  2. Proven experience as an Accountant in a similar size organisation (preferably hospitality-related).
  3. Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles and statistical reporting.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of finance, taxation and payroll statutory legislation and regulations.
  5. Proven proficiency with accounting and property management software packages.
  6. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  7. Strong analytical ability that delivers solution-based outcomes.
  8. High level of attention to detail.
  9. You must have unrestricted Australian working rights to be considered.
