Automation Dynamics is looking for an experienced PLC / Controls Programmer to join our industrial automation team. We design, build, install, and support automated equipment and control systems for our customers.
This is not a general IT position. We are looking specifically for someone with strong experience in B&R Automation platform PLC programming, HMI Design, industrial controls, electrical design and troubleshooting, as well as equipment commissioning.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize PLC and HMI applications specifically using B&R Automation Studio.

• Program control logic using Structured Text (ST), ANSI C, or standard IEC 61131-3 languages.

• HMI Development, Design and Integration utilizing Weintek CMT series hardware and configuration using Easy Builder Pro

• Integrate, Configure and tune VFD systems, specifically Schnneider Altivar, Mitsubishi, and other major brands.

• Integrate industrial networks using POWERLINK, Modbus, OPC UA, and CAN bus protocols.

• Troubleshoot and debug complex automation software both in-house and during field commissioning.

• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.

• Provide ongoing support for Automation Dynamics equipment after installation

Experience We’re Looking For

• Technical Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• B&R Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience programming with B&R Automation Studio.

• Motion Control: Strong background configuring VFD.

• Language Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Structured Text (ST) or ANSI C and integration with HMI and VFD technologies.

• Networking and Integration with other Hardware such as HMI and VFD: Deep understanding of industrial networking protocols (OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, or Ethernet/IP)

• Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills for debugging complex machine behavior and timing issues in an manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Experience commissioning equipment in the field

Position Requirements

• Ability to Travel: our customers are located across the US and Canada. We travel to the site for startup, commissioning and troubleshooting.

• B&R Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience programming with B&R Automation Studio.

• Strong Communication and documentation Skills: Post development will include documenting the project and pulling together data to provide support documents and customer manuals.

• Dependable and able to work independently as well as with our installation and fabrication teams

Schedule

Full-time position based out of Independence, Missouri, with travel as needed for customer installations and commissioning.
