CARETAKER WANTED FOR A PRIVATE DUCK CLUB IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA’S SUI (Suisun City)

Live and work on a private 1,200-acre island in Northern California’s Suisun Marsh!

Rich Island Duck Club seeks a team of two dependable, hospitality-minded caretakers to help operate and care for our remote, member-owned waterfowl hunting club. This is a rare opportunity for practical, self-sufficient people who enjoy cooking for groups, hands-on property care, and the traditions of a well-run hunting club. The position may be seasonal or year-round.

Located about 25 minutes from Fairfield and 90 minutes from San Francisco or Sacramento, Rich Island offers privacy, expansive marsh views, abundant wildlife, and a peaceful lifestyle that is increasingly hard to find. The property includes exceptional opportunities for striper, salmon, and sturgeon fishing, birdwatching, walking, and unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. Learn more about the club at .

We are looking for two people or a couple who work exceptionally well together and take pride in maintaining a welcoming and clean environment for members and guests.

Ideal candidates are:
• Experienced in menu planning, shopping, preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals for groups of 5–30 people
• Friendly, organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Capable of basic maintenance, lawn and grounds care
• Comfortable living on-site and serving as a responsible year-round security presence

Experience in catering, hospitality, and hunting/fishing lodge operations, ranch or property management, RV parks, or similar hands-on roles is especially valuable.

Key Responsibilities

During waterfowl hunting season, caretakers will:
• Plan menus, shop, cook, serve, and clean up after meals
• Prepare meals on a typical schedule of Tuesday dinner, Wednesday breakfast and lunch, Friday dinner, and Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Maintain the lodge’s common areas, including the kitchen, dining room, lounge, and shared/public restroom
• Perform routine grounds and facility upkeep, including lawn care, basic maintenance, and regular trash runs to the Potrero Hills landfill using the club vehicle and trailer
• Monitor the property and communicate maintenance or supply needs to club leadership

Schedule and Compensation

The hunting season runs from approximately mid-October through mid-February. We will consider seasonal employment from mid-September through mid-February or year-round employment including offseason basic grounds maintenance and property security. The approximately 40-hour work week runs from Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off.

The club provides competitive wages for the right two-person team, a furnished two-bedroom on-site apartment with utilities included, and a club vehicle and fuel for approved town and supply runs.
