Please read the entire ad before applying. Thank you!

I am a middle-aged female artist and process-oriented therapist based in Santa Fe, NM, experiencing a variety of rare chronic and acute illnesses which require daily support and frequent medical travel. I am looking to hire a Traveling Executive Assistant/Caregiver to manage and meet my medical, administrative, and household needs with compassion and precision – someone who can simultaneously balance multiple complex projects while maintaining a centered presence and diligent focus on day-to-day caregiving and medical management.

Our small, caring team values skilled communication, mutual respect, personal growth, holistic health, efficiency, and creativity. We work collaboratively to ensure my greatest possible wellness via general support, medical interventions, safe and stable housing, and more. If you excel in critical thinking, tracking details, prioritizing and shifting between numerous tasks, and are comfortable with unpredictable travel, this job will put your skills to meaningful use!

The ideal candidate understands and honors that attention to detail and adaptability are crucial when lives are in the balance. They will be adept at anticipating both personal and team needs, skillfully troubleshooting challenges before or as they arise. They should also be comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks, including medical care, management, and advocacy as needed.

This is more than an administrative or caregiving role; it’s about remaining present and grounded while effectively engaged in a dynamic, sometimes stressful, sometimes joyful, ever-changing environment, ensuring the wellbeing of yourself, myself, and our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is not a typical caregiving position. While I require assistance with physical tasks (lifting, bending, etc) and digital communication/organization, I generally provide my own personal care.

Assistance & Caregiving: Provide a grounded, compassionate, supportive presence and high-quality care for myself and my sweet, small dog.
- Communicate on my behalf via phone and email
- Field, navigate, and execute numerous competing priorities, balancing long-term and emergent daily needs. This can include an ever--replenishing list of tasks, from managing my inbox to big picture planning to walking the dog.
- The expectation is not that everything will get done in a given day, but that everything is meticulously tracked and managed so tasks are completed thoroughly and in order of priority.

Medical Management & Care: Communicate and coordinate care with medical professionals and caregivers.
- Skillfully advocate as appropriate
- Implement and maintain medical protocols
- Take detailed medical notes, organize and track information
- Coordinate and supervise care
- Oversee and provide at-home medical interventions as appropriate and trained, including but not limited to: medication administration, post-operative care, medical device assistance.
- Provide delicate transportation (ie. careful driving) and support for medical appointments

Emergency Care & Travel: Update and implement emergency care and travel protocols.
- Remain on-call for emergencies and available for medical travel and care, delegating as needed in case of illness, vacation, etc.
- Willingness and ability to plan, execute, and accompany last-minute, potentially extended travel is vital as the frequency, location, and duration of travel can be unpredictable

Flexibility: Willingness and ability to be highly flexible with hours, days, and locations worked is required.

Composure Amidst Crises: Remain calm, grounded, and highly skilled while successfully navigating stressful situations, including medical emergencies. Be prepared for and comfortable with an often, not always, high intensity work environment.

Embracing Mystery: My illness, symptoms, and life circumstances are often in flux, without clear answers, trajectories, and paths forward. As such, you must be able to strategize, plan, and remain grounded amidst uncertainty.

- Be comfortable with allopathic and holistic (including “alternative”) medical approaches.
- Be respectful, understanding, and mindful of chemical, scent, sound, and electrical sensitivities
- Use only approved scent-free body care and laundry products and power down electronics in my presence
